Handicap Examples Back

The following are examples of how to determine which holes the handicap strokes are to be given for Match Play:

 Example 1

Player A has a handicap of 8. Player B has a handicap of 5. They are about to play the front nine at Madden. Player B must give Player A three handicap strokes. For match play, Player A receives one stroke each on the three "hardest" holes on the front nine. Those three holes are 7, 1, and 4.

Example 2
Player A has a handicap of 16 and Player B has a handicap of 5. The difference between the two handicaps is 11 strokes. Therefore, Player A receives one stroke on all nine holes, and another stroke on the two hardest holes of the nine being played.
